As soon as the road invites you to go left from Bunesti, the first village that appears in your path is Viscri. Known long time ago as Giscriu, its name translates into the old language as "the White Saxon Church". Isolated from the main road connecting Brasov to Sighisoara, Viscri is home to one of the most spectacular Saxon fortified churches, being one of the six included in UNESCO World Heritage sites.

The beauty and purity of these places brought Prince Charles himself here, who renovated the church and several houses in the village, giving them their original glow. In Viscri lives on one of the most picturesque and monumental Saxon peasant fortresses, which includes among its walls one of the few Romanesque churches of the 13th century.
